The "Suonen" are artificial canals which are used to bring water for the irrigation of the fields on the mountainsides. The canals are a many miles long. This canal system was used at many other places in Wallis, too. Even though it's now used for many hundred years, it is still used and necessary.

around 5 hours
Hiking trail :  Ausserberg - Niwaerch - Aelum - Gorperi - Eggen - Ausserberg

This trail is along the Suonen which is also called the holly water. One side of the way is canal and the other side is the cliff... Some places are nallow or just with wooden board to go over. It is an exiciting trail!
